The Wright Stuff (have you got it in YOU?)
For most, going to college is all about working toward a future filled with opportunity. The plan? Earn a degree, land a good entry-level job, make money and climb the corporate ladder.
Of course, college is also about having fun. It's your first taste of freedom away from parental control and likely your last chance to be a kid before heading into the "real world" your parents are always lamenting about. It's a time to learn, grow … and to have a blast.
Four years ago, Jay and Lyndi Wright of Nichols Hills, OK were ordinary 21-year-old college students getting ready to graduate and living the typical college life. Today, they're entrepreneurs earning more today than they ever dreamed possible.
Jay, a business and finance major, was at a party when a "friend of a friend of a friend" approached him with an opportunity — one that had nothing to do with school, but had everything to do with going into business for himself and earning money.
Lyndi, a ballerina and dance performance major, had danced all her life and had earned a spot with a professional dance team in Las Vegas, but she was ready for a change. Between the constant pressures to maintain a low weight and the long rehearsal hours, she longed for a positive alternative. Jay had started with Primerica a few weeks earlier. He thought Primerica might be just the change she was looking for and invited her down to the local office.
Lyndi knew she had found what she was looking for. "It's so nice to be in an environment where everyone is encouraged to win and go after his or her dreams," she enthuses. "Jay and I work as a team and we're always trying to boost each other up and motivate our team to reach their goals. It's a nice change."
Jay comes from a family of entrepreneurs and always knew he would have his own business. While still in high school, Jay founded and owned a chain of snow cone stands. He later sold his business and used the proceeds to pay cash for four years of college. It was in college that the couple learned about the flexibility, recognition and the potential for unlimited income they could earn with Primerica, so they went full-time into the business right away after graduating.
In the blink of an eye, this dynamic duo left their ordinary life behind and dedicated themselves to fulfilling their dreams. What's on their "to-do" list? Work hard, live life on their terms and become financially free.
"I just knew I wanted to do something for a living that I could have a blast doing, have a life full of freedom, and make a great living," says Jay. "And in my opinion, nothing compares to Primerica in helping normal people have those three things: fun, freedom and financial independence." In fact, this couple's biggest goal is to become the youngest million-dollar earners in Primerica.
Sound lofty? Not for the Wrights. Teeming with enthusiasm and dedication, this amazing partnership also believes in the power of dreaming big … and with good reason. Jay and Lyndi's have already reached an income level at age 25 that most people don't achieve in a lifetime.
"If you're good with people — or can become good — you never have to do anything other than Primerica. We see Primerica as an opportunity to get good at one thing that will always be in demand and never be outsourced. This company is all about real people helping middle income families get back on financial track," Lyndi says. "Plus, with Primerica, you can have all of the freedom you want at a young age. You don't have to wait until you're 50 or 60 years old (or maybe never) to have any real freedom."
Taking Primerica's key financial concepts of saving and getting out of debt to heart, the Wrights are already debt-free. Because of their Primerica income and dedication to saving money, the couple was able to fly their friends and family to Mexico to attend their wedding last August and pay all of their expenses. "We have more money saved now than we thought we would ever have," notes Lyndi. "Because of our success with Primerica, we can really make a difference for our families."
