Motivated to Win

If you’re the type of person who loves to compete, is willing to work hard, but wants to be in charge of your own destiny — where do you work? Twentysomethings Jeff and Emily Johnson didn’t always know what type of work would allow them to win. They just knew that what they were looking for couldn’t be found in corporate America.

“People our age don’t have a lot to look forward to when we head into the workforce,” Jeff says. “We’re getting a reality check. The corporate dream is fading and people are becoming jaded. No one wants to ‘get in with a good company’ and work for that same company for 20 years anymore and never see the benefits of your hard work.”

Though Emily and Jeff came from different backgrounds, they each had the drive to do what it took to win. Emily had just graduated from college and worked a couple of part-time jobs to make ends meet. Jeff had dropped out of college and was stacking soft drinks in grocery stores for a living. Both knew they wanted more out of life.

Emily heard about Primerica and immediately decided it was something she wanted to be a part of. “I really felt like Primerica was my best option,” she says. “As a woman, I had nothing to lose and everything to gain. I could set myself up and have a self-running business and still have a family life.

“I started part-time, obtained my licenses and worked hard to learn about the products.“I went to a Primerica Convention. I knew the Company was going somewhere and I wanted to be part of it. I knew it was time to get serious and go full-time. I didn’t want to be left behind.”

When Jeff first learned about Primerica, he knew it was something he wanted to try. As the oldest of five brothers and 15 cousins, he was expected to set an example. “I didn’t know if I could make six figures,” Jeff admits, “but I knew that Primerica helped people and I wanted to be part of that. I figured if the Company was even half as good as I believed, it would still be better than any other company I’d heard of before.”

The two met through the Company and immediately noticed their similarities. They both wanted to be in business for themselves and control their time and income. Busy building their separate businesses, the couple didn’t go on their first date until the two made some free time while on an all-expenses paid Company trip. Then, seeing his opportunity, Jeff finally asked Emily out on a date. “He had to really work on his sales skills to get me to agree to go out with him,” Emily jokes.

“I knew I wanted to be with someone who was motivated and who was going somewhere in life,” Jeff says of Emily. “We were both doing equally well in our individual Primerica businesses, but now we’re working together and realizing even greater success because we work together toward the same goals.”

Primerica’s partnership program encourages people to partner together, whether they’re a couple, family members or friends. Partnering has allowed the couple to work together toward their goal while playing to their individual strengths. Jeff builds and motivates their team while Emily focuses on training and developing them. Since partnering, the two have been skyrocketing to the top of Primerica’s leader boards.

“Before Primerica, I never had a chance to even have a chance,” Jeff states passionately. “No one was knocking down my door to get me to come work for them. This company gives you an opportunity to go somewhere.”

Adds Emily, “As long as you’re willing to work hard, Primerica doesn’t care about your age or if you have a college degree. The Company lets you compete in a positive environment and allows you to reap the rewards of your hard work. I’ve never known of another company that offers that kind of opportunity.”
